الفلاح
Why Alfalah exists
A career coach who knows your industry, your country, and your specific situation costs $150–300 per hour. Most people can’t afford one session, let alone the ten sessions it takes to actually move your career.
The 8 billion problem
The world has 8 billion people. Roughly 3.5 billion of them are of working age. The vast majority have never had access to professional career coaching. Not because they don’t need it, but because the economics have never worked.
A job seeker in Lahore, Lagos, or Lima competing for a global remote role faces the same ATS filters, the same recruiter biases, and the same salary negotiation dynamics as someone in London — but without a network, a career coach, or the knowledge of how the game is played in the destination country.
AI changes this. For the first time, the knowledge that was locked in expensive human coaches can be encoded, retrieved, and delivered at near-zero marginal cost. Alfalah is our attempt to do that right.
What الفلاح means
Al-Falah (الفلاح) is an Arabic word that appears five times daily in the Islamic call to prayer: Hayya ʿalā al-falāḥ — “Come to success.”
In classical Arabic, falahcarries a richer meaning than “success” alone. It implies flourishing — the growth of a farmer who tends their land well, the prosperity of a community that works together, the kind of success that is earned, sustainable, and shared.
That’s the kind of career help we want to provide: not a hack, not a shortcut, not a score to show off. Genuine flourishing.
Our five design principles
P1 — Standard shows enough to fall in love. Pro hides enough to upgrade.
We never cripple Standard with bad UX or fake limits. Standard users should leave each session genuinely better off, even if they never upgrade. Conversion comes from value escalation, not pressure or dark patterns.
P2 — The rock is immutable. The scaffolding evolves.
The eight locked architectural decisions — data model, auth, pricing, module boundaries — do not change without a formal planning session. Everything else is allowed to evolve. This prevents the chaos of building on shifting sand.
P3 — One tool per job, one job per tool.
Each module owns one responsibility. AI routes. Storage stores. Auth authenticates. No god classes, no kitchen-sink modules. This means fewer bugs and faster iteration.
P4 — Bias to delete code over add code.
When solving a problem, prefer removing the cause over adding a workaround. The codebase should shrink during refactors, not grow. Complexity is technical debt we pay with velocity.
P5 — Honesty over politeness in error states.
When something fails, we tell the user what failed and what they can do next. We never pretend a failure was a success or silently fall back to a worse experience without disclosure.
What we won’t do
These are explicit choices, not oversights. We document them so you can hold us to them.
- No multi-tenant SaaS for companies. No team accounts, no per-seat licenses, no admin dashboards.
- No fine-tuning. Better training data is the path to a smarter AI — not custom models.
- No accounts for users under 16. Legal requirement — COPPA, GDPR-K, PIPEDA.
- No fully autonomous job applications. We help you fill the form; you click Submit. LinkedIn and Indeed ToS prohibit bots, and your account matters more than our convenience.
- No data sale, no ad targeting, no third-party tracking pixels. Revenue comes from users paying for value, not from monetising user data.
- No promises we can't keep. "Comprehensive across 195 countries" is different from "all occupations." We say what we cover, and we cover what we say.
The pricing trust deal
Pro is $19 USD one-time. That gives you 30 calendar days of full access. After 30 days, you revert to Standard. There is no auto-renewal. No subscription that charges while you’re not looking.
If you’re actively job-searching, $19 covers one sprint. When the sprint is over, stop paying. If you need another sprint, buy again. Most job seekers use three $19 windows total — $57 for a full job search, versus $150/month for competitors.
Standard is not a trial. It’s a permanent product. We don’t secretly degrade it over time or slowly move things behind the paywall. If we ever do that, we will say so publicly and explain why.
